Hotel Review: Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Canada

Hotel Review: Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Canada

The scene was set, as we drove into Whistler in our 10 people stretched limo (I know, just like rockstars!) the snow started falling softly. We were all excited for the next 2 nights staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler nestled at the base of Blackcomb mountain and the best Ski in, Ski-out resort in Whistler Village.  Rated 5 stars, and room rates starting at around $300Aud per night, it was sure to be a treat and a half!

The Food at Fairmont Chateau Whistler

I have to admit. It had its downfalls though. Behind all of the amazing cheery staff and Oprah-esque decor, there was one thing lacking. No Mini-bar.

What? A group of 18 Aussies expected to stay for 2 nights, with no mini-bar?!

Needless to say, we had to make use of their $30 platter of cola cans  (read: 5 mini cans) at 2 am one morning, and a dodgy bottle of duty-free vodka, sent up by a giddy teen room service attendant.

Booze aside, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler was the Piece De Resistance of the Fairmont chain. The staff were wonderfully attentive (and some, very attractive!) and the service undisputed. While we didn’t sample the room service meals, we did have a buffet breakfast on our morning of check out. It was fantastic. A full cereal buffet complete with juices (the fresh kind, not over-sweetened bottle stuff) and fresh fruit, while the hot buffet offered an egg station, and the usual sausages, bacon, eggs, beans etc. It certainly helped with the hangover from the night before!

The rooms at Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Our room was a lead-in Fairmont room, with two queen beds and a view over Blackcomb ski run. The room was large enough that the two of us weren’t falling over each other’s suitcases, but this may have been due to the corner positioning in the building? I LOVED the bathroom amenities, a personalised Fairmont brand, with two services daily.

The facilities

We also checked out the pool area, there are several hot pools and one colder lap pool. I was not so keen to try the latter with the snow falling around us, and opted for the glass of wine delivered to us in the jacuzzi. Winning!

Would I go back to Whistler again? OMG YES! Would I stay at Fairmont  Chateau Whistler again? I don’t think I would stay anywhere else! 🙂
